Team Rubicon Canada Appoints Mischa Kaplan as New CEO

Toronto, ON – Team Rubicon Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Mischa Kaplan as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 21, 2025. Kaplan succeeds outgoing CEO Bryan Riddell, under whose leadership the organization has experienced exponential growth and expanded its impact across the country through a team of over 4,000 Greyshirt volunteers.

Kaplan brings over 15 years of diverse leadership experience spanning the military, private, and non-profit sectors. A veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, Kaplan served from 2007 to 2012 before transitioning to the private sector, where he successfully led and scaled Rainbow Foods Inc., a prominent Ottawa-area food retailer, culminating in a successful, strategic acquisition.

He later held senior leadership roles in several mission-driven organizations, including the Ottawa Tourism, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, and most recently, Scouts Canada, where he served as Executive Director of Corporate Services.

“As a CAF veteran, Mischa understands the unique culture and values that define Team Rubicon Canada,” said Geordie Young, Chair, Board of Directors. “His cross-sector experience and commitment to service make him an ideal leader to guide the organization through its next phase of growth.”

Kaplan’s appointment follows a comprehensive national search process conducted by the TR Canada Board, with a focus on identifying a leader who embodies the organization’s mission and has the skills to lead its strategic expansion.

“I’m honoured to join Team Rubicon Canada,” said Kaplan. “This is an organization with a unique culture, built on service, resilience, and teamwork. I look forward to working with Greyshirts – staff and volunteers – and our partners, to continue serving Canadian and global communities in times of need.”

Team Rubicon Canada mobilizes veterans, first responders, and civilian volunteers to support communities before, during, and after disasters and crises. With Kaplan at the helm, the organization is poised to scale its national impact and reinforce its position as a trusted partner in disaster response and recovery.
