Service Without an Off Switch
For some people, the idea of service doesn’t come with an off switch. It follows them into the work they choose and the way they show up for others.
My Own Path is a veteran-owned health and wellness business built around more than fitness. It focuses on helping people rebuild strength, both physical and mental, while creating a space where individuals feel supported and understood.
That foundation made a connection to Team Rubicon Canada feel natural.
“The work that Team Rubicon Canada does is outstanding and the fact that they are giving the veteran community an opportunity to use their skill sets in a purposeful way is amazing,” states Julianno Scaglione, Founder of My Own Path.
After his own time with the Canadian Forces ended, Julianno took the opportunity to reflect upon his personal journey, and how he could continue to serve communities and others. Out of that reflection, My Own Path was born, offering a range of services to help support personal growth and improvement, whether health and dietary supplements, fitness support or free support for veterans and their families. My Own Path serves by helping to create connection and community.
Team Rubicon Canada is a veteran-led organization that supports communities before, during and after disasters, bringing together veterans, first responders and kick-ass civilians who are ready to step in when it matters most.
For My Own Path, that kind of work reflects something deeper than volunteering.
“Life is not worth living if it is done for yourself and on your own,” claims Julianno. “Being part of a functioning community is the cornerstone of being a good human.”
That dedication is the foundation of how he runs his business. For Julianno, labour and community are one in the same.
Supporting Team Rubicon Canada is one way to spread that thinking outside his own space, by assisting volunteers who continue to show up in difficult situations. Through the partnership with Team Rubicon Canada, a portion from sales of My Own Path’s premium coffee supplement is donated to support the mission.
“When we do for others, the hope is reciprocity will kick in and get others doing the good work too,” Julianno continues.
For businesses considering similar partnerships, My Own Path’s perspective is direct.
“If you are not focused on relationships, you are in the game for the wrong reasons,” Julianno said. “You must view the profits of community and relationships.”
That idea is reflected in one of My Own Path’s core mottos: Be The Tree.
