KEEP DISTANCE
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Put distance between yourself and others if COVID-19 is spread in your community.
This is especially important for those who are at higher risk of getting very sick.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds - especially if you have been in a public place and coughing or sneezing.
If necessary, use hand sanitizer which contains at least 60% alcohol.
While washing, cover the entirety of your hands and rub together until dry.
Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
WASH YOUR HANDS
First ensure you are healthy, non-symptomatic, and not part of an at-risk group
CHECK YOURSELF, YOUR FRIENDS & YOUR FAMILY
Check local and PHAC guidance
Ensure you’re tending to your preparedness and resilience.
Examine your supplies.
Encourage your family to be productive with their time.
Reach out and get to know your neighbours.
Check in with your community and ensure you all have comms with one-another. Consider virtual forums like Facebook groups, NextDoor, and WhatsApp.
Provide simple offers of support - such as a run to the grocery store for a senior citizen.
Reach out to local food pantries.
Launch virtual gatherings for get-togethers to discuss anything from PHAC guidance to the family tree.
CHECK ON YOUR LARGER COMMUNITY
HOW IS TEAM RUBICON RESPONDING TO COVID-19?
There is no playbook for this situation, but action is the only option.
Team Rubicon is currently serving in communities providing assistance such as delivery service for food-insecure populations, coordination and logistics support for those in temporary quarantine, as well as individual volunteers helping their neighbours leveraging the safety guidance above.
These operations will continue to evolve as we navigate a new normal.
